The Sub Committee of The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of MoEF & CC visited NTPC Gadarwara on 16th May to 19th May, 2024.
The sub committee consisted of 4 members. They were - Dr. Vinod Agrawal, Chairman, Dr. S. Chandrashekhar, Member, Dr. Santosh Kumar Hampannavar, Member and Shri Vishwa Bandhu Meena, Member.
The purpose of the sub-committee visit is to physically access the present status and propose future strategies to be included in the proposed ToR for Stage-II related to emissions, existing air quality, green belt development and environmentally sensitive areas.
The Chairman and members were welcomed by Shri Probal Mundle, HoP, Gadarwara. Shri PK Jena, GM (Operation), Shri Ashish Verma, AGM (Ash Utilization), Shri S.R. Karthikeyan, AGM (TS), Shri J.K. Meena, DGM (EMG) and other senior officials were present at the occasion.
A meeting regarding the agenda points for the TOR proposal was held on 17th May, 2024 followed by a visit to Plant and Ash Dyke area including visit to plantation sites, Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station, Review of water sprinkling and other air pollution control measures for dust suppression and maintaining good air quality.
The subcommittee along with Shri Probal Mundle, HoP, Gadarwara and other officials from NTPC Gadarwara also visited little girls from schools of surrounding villages who are staying at NTPC Gadarwara under ongoing Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Programme 2024.
Shri V B Meena from IRO, Bhopal also visited reservoir, CHP area, Station Building, Main plant area, Control Room, Roop top Solar sites, Chemistry, tree plantation sites, ash dyke area, STP area and prooosed area for ash dyke and main plant for Stage-II.
EAC subcommittee and IRO, Bhopal site visit completed successfully on 18th and 19th May, 2024 respectively.
